Cardinal Newman is coming off one of its best seasons of all time but lost a lot of that team.   The Cardinals opened the season on Tuesday with a 51-49 loss to Analy.

The Liberty team that Cardinal Newman is meeting is from Bakersfield.   They are called the Patriots and had a streak of four straight 20 win seasons snapped last year when they went 17-11.  They lost in the consolation game of this tournament last year.

Campolindo is constantly a twenty win team and won the NCS Division 3 Championship in 2008.  They go into the season considered one of the best teams in Division 3.

Vista Del Lago is from Folsom and is coached by Matt von Tillow who played went to and played for Montgomery in the early part of the century.

California is from San Ramon and its football team is playing De La Salle for the NCS Division 1 championship on Saturday Night.  The basketball team hasn’t finished over .500 since 2010.

The host Montgomery team was ranked No. 2 in the final YSN365.com last season and has most of its players coming back.  This could be a good year for Montgomery basketball.

Thursday’s 4pm and 7 pm are matchup to meet in the second round as are the 5:30 and 8:30 games.  That is why on the schedule above it is out of order on what time the games will be played.
