Big Baseball Games This Week
Baseball season is in full swing and league races are heating up. We have some big matchups this week and let’s take a look at them.
Analy @ Petaluma-5/2, 4:30pm
These are two of the top teams in the NCS for their divisions. Petaluma sits at 13-6 and 7-0 in league play. Analy is 15-4 and 8-0 in SCL play. This is a makeup game from a few weeks back that got rained out. Both teams have fantastic pitching staffs. Petaluma is led by Danny Marzo, Blake Burher, and Nick Andrakin. They boast a 2.11 team ERA. Analy is led by Evan Peelan and Mason Snodgrass. As a team they have a 1.44 ERA. For the hitting side, Keaton Bates and Jack Newman have been hitting the back well for the Tigers, boasting batting averages over .400. For Petaluma, Marzo, Logan Douglas, Bradley Smith, and Porter Slate have been leading the Trojans with the bat, scoring 123 runs on the year. This should be a pitchers duel in what should have a backed house at Petaluma’s Dan Fager field.
St Vincent @ Sonoma Academy 5/4 @ Doyle Park, 5:30pm
Sonoma Academy @ St. Vincent 5/5, 4:00pm.
These two teams have been at the top of the NCL II for the past few years. They’ve split the meetings the last two years and this year should be no different. Chance Colbert for Sonoma Academy is hitting .551! Oscar McCauley and Fabrizzio Caro are both hitting over the .400 mark as well. They’ll need to keep up with the SV pitching of Jack Romano and Ethan Rappoport. They are also the ones leading the way with the bat for SV, along with Reno Nalducci. If we base on the history of these two teams from last year, These two games should be pretty good.
Casa Grande @ Maria Carrillo 5/5, 4:00.
Casa Grande comes in at 15-4 and 9-1 in NBL play. Chris Joaquim leads the way with a 2.19 ERA. Spencer Torkelson is leading with the bat with a .491 average. For the Pumas, they’re just 7-9 and 4-3 in NBL play, but are always a tough matchup. Dominic Riggio has led the way with the bat with a .353 average. Ryan Sellner has a 2.78 ERA. This is a bug game for NBL and NCS standings.
