TOP FIVE OF THE WEEKEND

Here are five things to keep an eye on this weekend:

 

No. 5—High School Football State Playoffs

 

Most of the people in this part of the world have lost interest in it.   But it’s still worth mentioning as the Northern and Southern California champion will be decided this weekend.

 

Each half of the state has five games with the winners meeting in the State Championship Game in Carson the weekend of December 20th and 21st.

 

Here is the Northern California Games.

 

OPEN DIVISION

 

Folsom (14-0, 5-0) vs. De La Salle (13-0) at Diablo Valley College 

 

Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m

 

DIVISION I

 

Del Oro (12-2, 5-0) vs. Serra, San Mateo (11-2, 6-0) at San Jose City College

 

Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

 

DIVISION II

 

Manteca (13-1, 7-0) vs. Enterprise (12-0, 6-0) at Lincoln HS (Stockton)  

 

Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

 

DIVISION III

 

Sacred Heart Prep (12-1, 4-1) vs. El Cerrito (12-2, 6-0) at De Anza HS (Richmond) – Saturday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m..

 

DIVISION IV

 

McClymonds (10-2, 5-0) vs. Central Catholic (13-1, 6-0) at Lincoln HS (Stockton) Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

 

No. 4—Ukiah hosts Girls Tournament

 

This is mostly a local tournament that has seven teams.  Five of the seven teams are from Sonoma County and has made headlines come NCS playoff time in past years.    The other two teams are the host Ukiah and Livermore.

 

THURSDAY SCHEDULE

 

4:30—Cloverdale vs. Montgomery

 

6 pm—Analy vs. Maria Carrillo

 

7:30—Petaluma vs. Livermore

 

Ukiah has a first round bye and will meet the Petaluma-Livermore winner in the round two on Friday.

 

No. 3—JC Women Get Into the Tournament Action

 

The Annual SRJC Caren Franci Tournament begins on Friday and includes San Francisco who is the No. 1 team in the state.

2 pm—San Joaquin Delta vs.Mendocino

 

4pm—Ohlone vs. Redwoods

 

6 pm—FeatherRiver vs. San Francisco

 

8 pm—Southernwest Oregon vs.SRJC

 

No. 2—65th Annual REIBT Tournament in Healdsburg

 

This tournament started on Wednesday and runs through Saturday
