Week 7 Football Preview:
As we head into the final stretch towards the NCS playoffs, teams will be finishing out their schedules soon.
On Friday, there is a big NBL game in Santa Rosa. Windsor comes to town, and they’ll be fired up after taking a 51-23 loss on their homecoming night last week vs Rancho Cotate. Kobe Roman will have to be on point in the air, and throw for his average of 152 yards for Windsor to stay in the game.
Santa Rosa has put up big numbers offensively in NBL play. In 3 games, they’ve scored 119 points. Isaiah Steele has been averaging just below 200 yards throwing, and 253 total all purpose yards. Blake Leiva, defensively for Santa Rosa has been tremendous. He’s been averaging 10.2 tackles a game. He’ll need a performance like that in what should be a great game Friday Night.
Sonoma County League
Elsie Allen travels to El Molino. The Lions have been the surprise of the league this year. El Molino is 3-3, and 2-0 in SCL play.
Petaluma will be playing their second game in three weeks on a baseball field as they travel to Rec Park in Healdsburg in what could be a mud bowl. Petaluma racked up 5 sacks last week against Piner and they look to do that again this week. All of Justen Santa’s tackles last week were either tackles for a loss, or sacks. He’ll need to do that again for the Trojans to get above .500.
Analy goes to Piner on Saturday as they look to continue to dominate the SCL. Jack Newman has thrown for 25 touchdowns this year. That’s about five per game.
North Bay League
Cardinal Newman visits Montgomery this week. In Basketball, this is usually a great matchup. Not so much in football. For the past two years, Newman has out scored the Vikes 99-16. Damian Wallace looks to follow up his big game against Maria Carrillo with another one Friday.
Maria Carrillo looks to get back on track against a struggling Casa Grande team. Casa Grande lost a potentially winnable game last week in Ukiah. They’re back at home this week, and for them, they hope that translates to success
Rancho Cotate looks to continue to surge through their schedule as they go to Ukiah. Rancho Cotate has put up fantastic numbers offensively this year. They’ve thrown up 155 points in three NBL games. If all goes right, they could be looking at a winner take all championship game Nov. 4 vs Cardinal Newman.
